Creative Workshops – EB1 do Lagarteiro
Through musical and visual languages, the project created a space for artistic creation and experimentation that supported intercultural integration, the appreciation of cultural diversity, the development of socio-emotional skills, and, ultimately, the fight against school absenteeism.
This project emerged from a strategic partnership established by PELE with the Municipality of Porto, within the framework of the Porto Municipal and Intercultural Mediators project.
The process
Throughout 2025, music and photography workshops were developed with students from the 1st cycle of EB1 do Lagarteiro. Through a variety of creative exercises, these workshops stimulated the participants’ imagination and artistic expression, culminating in moments where the completed works were presented.
Exhibition: Sons que me habitam
Starting from a sensitive relationship between sound, image, and identity, each child was challenged to create new perspectives on the places of their everyday life—school, neighborhood, home—and to recognize and express what inhabits them: gestures, rhythms, stories, and senses of belonging.
The photographic compositions on display, both inside and outside the school grounds, reflect and celebrate the diversity of voices within the community that inhabits it.
Music showcase
Presentation integrated into the end-of-year celebration (June 2025), where 1st cycle students shared the outcomes of the music sessions, focused on themes of interculturality and childhood, promoting dialogue among the different cultures present in the school community.
